Day 42
July 13th, 2007

Friday the 13th.
After the most amazing night sleep of the trip we were off, bright and early, to the best sponsored breakfast we have had all summer. The breakfast was at the home of the parents of a past Journey of Hope cyclist. From breakfast we From breakfast we went straight to our lunch friendship visit...or so we thought. We accidentally went to the wrong location of Wichita's rainbows United. After another short drive we were at the school that holds the summer classes for local children with disabilities. The school was great! There were a lot of kids there. We all split up and went and hung out in different classes. The class the I joined was in the process of making snakes out of nylons and newspaper. I had a chance to help a girl named Madison with her snake. After our snakes were made we headed to the cafeteria for some lunch. At lunch I hung out with Madison again as well as a boy named Noah. Noah was quite the character. For dessert Noah and I had a big pile of whip cream on some strawberry cake. This was one of the best visits of our summer so far. After lunch we headed back to the hotel for a little bit of down time. At this time some of us manned a booth at an independent living expo. We had a chance to talk to people about our trip by handing out some brochures and selling some t-shirts. On our way out we also got a free quick massage from a physical therapy demo. For dinner we headed over to the main office for Wichita's independent living. We had the opportunity to chat with the center's employees about how they assist people with disabilities and make independent living a reality. From there is was back to the Hyatt for one more night on my comfy bed.
