A day off in Beautiful Colorado Springs
Today was a little different day off than normal because we had to wake up early for a sponsored breakfast but it was totally worth it. We drove out to the house of the parents of Tanner Bacon. Tanner Bacon works at the Push America headquarters and has been a vital part of Push America's success in the past years. After breakfast we had an opportunity to head down to the washerteria to clean up our clothes for the next stretch. For lunch we got to go back to the Olympic Training Center to have lunch with the Colorado Springs Easterseals. The group
has special programs set up within the community to help out with people with disabilities. Their newest program caters to youth with autism and helping their parents lean more about how to better communicate with their children. We also issued the group a grant for $750 to further this program.
For dinner we went out to the house of the original Project manager of the Journey of Hope. In 1988, a year after Bruce Rodgers first rode his bike across the US, another team did the same feat with a larger team. This is where the first Journey of Hope team event came from. John works for the Olympic committee and has been able to run the Olympic torch, so I naturally had to get a picture with it.
